ABOUT ABOUT

Tall Trees is proud to present Arty Hill and the Long Gone Daddys

"From Baltimore, MD to Central Texas, Arty Hill is packing the bars and dance floors with his unique brand of Modern Honky Tonk. He sings with an "'everyman' quality…reminiscent of Johnny Cash." (Vintage Guitar Magazine). His songs - marrying the soul of classic country with the wry storytelling of Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt - have been recorded by Rockabilly Queen Bee Marti Brom, Austin’s Texas Sapphires, the Grammy-nominated Kenny and Amanda Smith Band, and award-winning Alt-Country pioneers Jason & the Scorchers. And with his recordings topping the FAR chart, it's no wonder Rambles.net calls him "a country songwriter of the first order, His latest recording, Heart on My Dirty Sleeve, is a two disc collection of original honky tonk and bluegrass recorded with the Long Gone Daddys and the bluegrass-flavored outfit Smooth Kentucky. The result is a recording that both connects to hillbilly music's origins and expands on them in beguiling ways.  "No-bullsh*t honky-tonk hero carries the torch for the hard-livin', harder drinkin', troubled sweethearts of unaffected real-talk country." - Brandon Soderberg, Baltimore City Paper

with opening band Western Star

Raised mostly in a holler on the border of West Virginia and Virginia. Formed while working on a cattle ranch in East Texas. This family band is a second generation alt-country four piece that brings garage-rock speed and power, southern rock harmonies and straight up kickassery to their music.

When they aren't wrangling calves and driving heavy equipment down in Texas, the Western Star boys stay local to Baltimore and gig up and down the east coast. Running through the nightclubs and bars, playing out as much as possible, these guys have headlined the Ottobar multiple times, rocked a sold out 930 Club opening for the Old 97s, and headlined the Mercury Lounge in NYC.
